ONGOING PROJECTS UNDER COCHIN PORT AUTHORITY
GRANT IN AID PROJECTS
- UPGRADATION AND MODERNIZATION OF COCHIN FISHERIES HARBOUR AT THOPPUMPADY KOCHI
- The total project cost is Rs.169.17 Crores which includes PPP sub project for Rs. 55.85 crores.
- The project is funded through Grants from Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) Scheme under Dept. of Fisheries (Rs.50 Crores), Sagarmala Project scheme of MoPS&W (Rs.50 Crores) and balance by CoPA & PPP operators.
- EPC Contract for the work was awarded to M/s. RDS Project Ltd., Kochi on 24/08/2022 for Rs.95,54,76,330/- excluding GST, and the work is in progress. Expected completion date of the project is 30/09/2026.
DEPOSIT WORKS – CONSTRUCTION
- RE-CONSTRUCTION OF NORTH JETTY, KOCHI ON EPC CONTRACT BASIS
- The estimated project cost of ‘Re-construction of North Jetty after demolition of existing jetty, Kochi’ is Rs.596.43 crores.
- The Project involves demolition of existing jetty and re-construction of North jetty, FIC bay, approach trestle and development of onshore facilities like Power House, Pump House, Office Building, DG Room, Compressor House, Guard Room, Watch Towers, Oxygen/Acetylene Sheds and Elevated Water Tank.
- EPC Contract for the work has been awarded to M/s. Afcons Infrastructure Ltd, Mumbai, for Rs.399.51 crores. The work is in progress.
GOA PROJECT
C. INTERNATIONAL AND DOMESTIC CRUISE TERMINAL AT MORMUGAO PORT AUTHORITY
- The project involves the development of world class International and Domestic Cruise Terminals at Mormugao Port.
- As per the directive of Ministry of Ports Shipping & Waterways the Mormugao Port Authority engaged Cochin Port Authority as PMC for the execution of project. The work was awarded to the EPC contractor M/s.RCC-ACC(JV), Gurugram for Rs.74.11 Cr. on 15-03-2022.
- The expected completion of the works of International and Domestic Cruise Terminals for its operation in February, 2026.
REVENUE WORKS
D. MAINTENANCE DREDGING AT COCHIN PORT CHANNELS AND BASINS
- Present maintenance dredging annual cost is Rs. 156.50 crores.
- Maintenance dredging involves the Approach Channel to the Port comprises of an Outer Channel and two Inner Channels; the Ernakulam Channel and Mattancherry Channel. The length of outer approach channel is about 13km with a width of 260 – 286m. The Outer Channel is presently maintained for a draft of 14.5m, Mattancherry Channel for a draft of 9.14m and Ernakulam channel for a draft of 12.5 /10.7m.
- Contract awarded to DCIL on nomination basis.
- The contract period was 01/08/2025 to 31/07/2025 which is extended till 31/07/2026.
UPCOMING PROJECTS UNDER COCHIN PORT AUTHORITY
DEPOSIT WORKS – CONSTRUCTION
A. RENOVATION OF PROPOSED GARAGE FOR GOI IN COCHIN PORT
- Renovation works to the Garage building of Ex-A-Tosh Building allotted to GoI using the fund deposited by GoI.
- Contract awarded to M/s. Coastal Engineering, Konthururthy on 18-11-2024.
- Work to be short closed as requested by the GoI.
- Estimate with revised scope as per the joint inspection has been submitted to GoI for concurrence.
B. RENOVATION OF BUILDINGS TO BE ALLOTED TO GOI NEAR DLD JUNCTION
- Renovation works to the Ex-Forbes building allotted to GoI using the fund deposited by GoI.
- Contract awarded to M/s. Coastal Engineering, Konthururthy on 21-11-2024.
- Work to be short closed as requested by the GoI.
- Estimate with revised scope as per the joint inspection has been submitted to GoI for concurrence.
C. WATER CONNECTION FOR ISRF USING DI PIPE
- Work is for providing drinking water connection to the ISRF of Cochin Shipyard Limited at Mattancherry Halt using the amount deposited by M/s.CSL.
- Tenders received for the work was opened on 18-08-2025. Single qualified bid is received. Tenders to be re-invited. Tender re-invited, the technical bid and price bid for the re-invited tender has been opened on 18.08.2025 & 20.11.2025 respectively and Price bid evaluation is under progress.
LAKSHADWEEP PROJECTS
- A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Union Territory of Lakshadweep Administration (UTLA), Cochin Port Authority (CoPA), Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) & Lakshadweep Development Corporation Limited (LDCL) was signed on 22.02.2023 for Port infrastructure development projects. Based on the said MoU, CoPA shall undertake and execute all the Port and Harbour development works under State / Central sector projects, as per requirements given by UTLA.
- CoPA has appointed M/s. Assystem India Limited (AIL), Chennai, formerly known as M/s. L & T Infrastructure Engineering Limited, Chennai (LNTIEL) as Consultant for the above said Lakshadweep projects.
D. DEVELOPMENT OF EASTERN & WESTERN JETTIES AT KALPENI ISLAND OF LAKSHADWEEP
- The Consultant has prepared the DPR for the Kalpeni Island and Sagarmala Cell of MoSP&W has conveyed in-principle approval.
- As per the DPR submitted by the Consultant M/s. AIL, the cost of the project comes to Rs.487.95 crore.
- Tenders were invited for the Project, excluding dredging and M/s. Vishwa Samudra Engineering Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad has been identified for the Contract.
E. DEVELOPMENT OF EASTERN & WESTERN JETTIES AT KADMATH ISLAND OF LAKSHADWEEP
- The Consultant has prepared the DPR for the Kadmath Island and Sagarmala Cell of MoSP&W has conveyed in-principle approval.
- As per the DPR submitted by the Consultant M/s. AIL, the cost of the project comes to Rs.481.18 crore.
- Tenders were invited for the Project, excluding dredging and M/s. Vishwa Samudra Engineering Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad has been identified for the Contract.
F. WATER AERODROMES AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS IN LAKSHADWEEP ISLANDS, KOCHI & OTHER LOCATIONS IN INDIA
- Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) had identified three locations in Lakshadweep i.e. Minicoy, Agatti, and Kavaratti Islands for development of Water Aerodromes under UDAN - Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) with a sanctioned amount of Rs.20 crore for each location.
- Assignment for Providing Consultancy Services for the project was awarded to M/s. Feedback Highways OMT Pvt. Ltd., Gurugram on 28/07/2023 for Rs.6.99 crore with an amount of Rs.1,74,75,000/- for each location.
- The Project is delayed due to the change in the scope of the Project, as directed by UTLA and due to non availability of fund from MoCA.
